Our Ground Transport Fleet
Advanced Life Support Vehicles & Equipment
World Ambulance ground transport vehicles are configured as fully equipped mobile medical units. Our fleet includes advanced life support (ALS) ambulances and critical care transport vehicles capable of handling complex patients over long distances.
All vehicles are climate controlled, GPS-tracked, and staffed by a minimum of a paramedic and EMT. For higher-acuity patients, we deploy an RN or flight paramedic on the crew. Every long-distance transport includes rotation crews for trips exceeding safe single-shift driving distances.

Frequently Asked Questions
Ground Transport Questions Answered
How much does long-distance ground ambulance transport cost?
Ground transport is priced primarily on mileage plus crew and equipment. Regional transports (100β300 miles) typically range from $1,500β$5,000. Long-distance cross-country transports range from $8,000β$25,000 depending on acuity and distance. We provide itemized quotes with no hidden fees. See our
cost guide for more detail.
Can family members ride along with the patient?
Yes. In most cases, one family member or companion can ride in the ambulance with the patient. For longer transports, we can also coordinate a follow vehicle for additional family members.
What if the patient is very large or requires special positioning?
We have bariatric-capable vehicles and equipment for larger patients, and we can configure the stretcher and vehicle for any required patient positioning. Please provide patient weight and any positioning requirements when requesting a quote.
Can you transport patients across state lines or international borders?
Yes. We are experienced in multi-state transport and handle all required documentation. For cross-border transport (USβCanada, USβMexico), we coordinate all customs and border documentation in advance.
How do I know if my patient needs ground vs. air transport?
Call us and describe the patient's condition, location, and destination. Our clinical team will recommend the most appropriate and cost-effective transport option. There is no obligation for this consultation.
