Air Ambulance Services in India

India presents a complex medical transport landscape. Major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai have world-class private hospitals โ€” including Apollo, Fortis, and Medanta โ€” that attract medical tourists from around the world. But much of India's population and many travelers are far from these centers, in areas where specialist care is unavailable.

World Ambulance handles two distinct types of India cases: international repatriation of expatriates and travelers who become seriously ill in India, and within-India transport for patients who need to reach specialist care in a major city from a more remote location.

Apollo Hospitals (Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad) and Medanta (Gurugram) are among Asia's finest hospitals. International patients who become critically ill in India are often best served by first stabilizing at an Apollo facility before long-distance repatriation is arranged.

India Transport Key Facts

  • Delhi to London: approximately 8.5 hours
  • Mumbai to US East Coast: approximately 16โ€“18 hours (fuel stop)
  • Chennai to Singapore: approximately 4 hours
  • India has excellent private hospitals in major cities
  • Remote states require domestic air transport first
  • Nepal/Bhutan cases often route through Delhi
Can you transport from remote areas of India?
Yes. For remote locations, we typically arrange domestic air transport to the nearest major airport first, then international repatriation. We coordinate the entire chain.
What if my family member is already at a good hospital in India?
If the patient is receiving good care at an Apollo or Medanta facility, we can arrange repatriation when they're stable enough. We work with the Indian hospital team to determine the right timing.
Can you transport from Nepal or Bhutan through India?
Yes โ€” we handle Himalayan evacuations regularly, often routing through Delhi (DEL) for international repatriation. See our Air Ambulance Guide for more.
