Air Ambulance from the Philippines
The Philippines is home to a large and widely dispersed population โ including hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals โ spread across a vast archipelago. Medical resources are concentrated in Manila, with capable hospitals in Cebu and Davao, but outer islands and rural provinces have very limited medical infrastructure.
When serious illness or injury strikes in the Philippines, World Ambulance provides the connection between wherever the patient is and the specialist care they need.
St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig and Quezon City is one of the finest hospitals in Southeast Asia and handles a high volume of complex international cases. For expatriates in Manila, stabilization at St. Luke's before long-haul repatriation is often the right approach.
Common Cases from the Philippines
- Outer island evacuations โ Palawan, Boracay, Siargao, Leyte, and other islands with minimal medical resources
- Diving accidents from Tubbataha, Anilao, and Coron โ world-class dive sites with limited nearby medical care
- Typhoon and disaster-related transport โ the Philippines experiences frequent typhoons; we coordinate emergency transport during and after natural disasters
- Expatriate community emergencies โ a large US, Australian, Korean, and Japanese expat community in Metro Manila
- OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) repatriation โ Filipino workers overseas who need repatriation home
- Cardiac and stroke emergencies โ requiring specialist care beyond Manila if heading to the US or Australia
Transport from Remote Philippine Islands
Reaching remote Philippine islands requires careful logistical planning. Depending on the island, the first leg of transport may involve a bangka (outrigger boat), local ferry, or chartered light aircraft to reach an airport capable of receiving a larger medical aircraft. World Ambulance coordinates all of these components.
For most inter-island transports, we use light aircraft or helicopters to reach the patient's island, with onward international transport from Manila or Cebu.
